The Leisure Lakes Race Series Click HERE for location click here for RESULTS and details WINTER RACE DATES 2007/2008 ALL RACES CANCELLED BY LEISURE LAKES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE SEE RESULTS LINK ABOVE FOR DETAILS Race Report - 9th December Yesterday's race was low
numbers, not helped by the dire weather forecast which didn't
happen and the fact that once December arrives everyone has other seasonal
happenings. The junior races set off
for their practice lap, only to discover that the paintballers had got in
the way. After lots of running
around and discussion, it was agreed that we
could go ahead after lunch, and the juniors raced at the same time as the seniors
at 1:30. As the total field was
small it wasn't a problem.
The clouds that had threatened rain all morning vanished without shedding a drop, and we
raced in beautiful sunshine, and deep thick mud in places too.
One 9 year old (mine!) got his feet and wheels stuck in one mud puddle and had to be
pulled out (by me!). And the
only rider to actually go over in the mud was me.
I put my foot down and it sunk so far I toppled in slow motion.
That aside it was a good course, and a good race with some tightly fought finishes,
despite so many spare trophies afterwards.
Mark and Matt (from the shop)
will be digging/cutting a new course for January, no doubt with as many
tricky twisty devious corners dips and climbs as the one we have just raced, with a
few local riders helping I believe. Oh,
Fraser and I got 1st in under 10's
and women's races respectively despite our struggles with the mud, as we were
the only ones in our categories. Hopefully there will be a bigger field next
time.
